Before & after
Long-lasting protection, not a new cover
Your boat’s canvas is its first line of defense against sun, wind and water. Over time the elements wear it down, but that doesn’t mean you need a new cover. In most cases, a timely repair restores your canvas to full strength and adds years to its life, at a fraction of the cost.

Care tips
How to extend the life of your canvas
- Rinse regularly: salt and dirt act like sandpaper on your seams. Rinse with fresh water after every outing.
- Avoid harsh chemicals: use only mild soaps. Harsh cleaners strip the waterproof coating from Sunbrella fabric.
- Dry before storing: never fold or store canvas while damp, to prevent mold and mildew in the fibers.
- Lubricate zippers: use a clear silicone spray or zipper wax on YKK zippers twice a season to keep them sliding smoothly.
Common questions
Repair & restoration FAQ
How do I know if my boat canvas needs a repair or a full replacement?
Generally, if the fabric is still vibrant and holds its shape but has a small tear, a broken snap or a cloudy window, a repair is the most cost-effective choice. If the fabric feels brittle to the touch or has significant thinning from UV damage, a full replacement may be necessary to ensure structural integrity.
Can cloudy or yellowed boat windows be fixed?
Yes. We specialize in clear panel restoration. Instead of replacing the whole enclosure, we sew in new, high-clarity Strataglass or Crystal Clear 20/30/40 mil vinyl, restoring full visibility at a fraction of the cost of a new enclosure.
Do you use UV-resistant materials for repairs?
Yes. Standard thread and fabric break down quickly in the Pacific Northwest’s marine environment, so we use UV-resistant PTFE lifetime thread or high-tenacity polyester thread, and genuine Sunbrella fabric, so repairs last as long as the original cover.
How long does a typical boat cover repair take?
Most minor repairs, like DOT Snap replacements or small patches, turn around quickly. For more extensive restorations like full zipper replacements or clear panel sewing, we typically provide a 1 to 2 week lead time depending on the season.
Can I get an estimate without bringing my boat to the shop?
Yes. We offer virtual estimates. Text a clear photo of the damaged area to 425-553-6900, and our Kirkland team will send a ballpark quote.
