Common questions
Rug & carpet binding FAQ
What is carpet or rug binding?
Binding wraps and sews a durable edge around a cut piece of carpet, so the raw edge stops fraying and the piece holds together like a finished rug or runner.
Can you bind marine carpet?
Yes, it’s one of our most common requests. We use UV-resistant, waterproof binding built to handle boat floors, cabins and cockpits in Pacific Northwest conditions.
Can you turn a remnant into a rug or stair runner?
Yes. Bring us a remnant or leftover carpet piece and we can cut, bind and finish it into a custom area rug or stair runner.
Do you repair existing rugs, or only bind new ones?
Both. We repair worn or fraying edges and reinforce high-traffic areas on rugs and carpet you already own, in addition to binding new pieces.
How long does binding take?
Most binding projects are quick turnarounds. We’ll give you an estimated timeline when we see the piece or a photo of it.
Have something else that needs sewing?
The same machines and marine-grade materials we use for rug binding also handle furniture covers, bags, pet gear and plenty of custom projects that have nothing to do with carpet. See everything we sew →
